As an Optical Engineer, you will design and develop laser-based systems for Wireless Power Transmission, contributing directly to our mission of demonstrating the first-ever satellite-to-satellite energy transfer in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
You will work at the forefront of photonics and space technology, shaping innovative solutions that will redefine how spacecraft are powered and operated in orbit.
What You Will Do
Design, model, and test laser and optical subsystems for space applications
Perform optical link budget analyses and beam propagation simulations
Support the development of laser transmitter and receiver payloads
Contribute to alignment, integration, and verification activities
Collaborate with systems, electrical, and thermal engineering teams
Participate in design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and qualification campaigns
What We Are Looking For
Degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, Photonics, or related field
At least 4 years of experience in laser systems, photonics, or optical engineering
Strong understanding of laser physics, beam propagation, and optical design
Experience with optical simulation tools (Zemax, COMSOL, or equivalent)
Fluent English (C1/C2 mandatory)
Nice to Have
Experience with space-qualified optical or laser systems
Familiarity with fiber lasers, high-power diode lasers, or free-space optical communication
Knowledge of ECSS standards and space qualification processes

Salary Range: €50,000 - €80,000
